I give it a 90% chance of being essentially a high-budget, appallingly-written, humourless and staid take on the 1990s comics where basically exactly what has been described happened.

I remain utterly fascinated by the prospect of an Alien TV show and where it might go. I can't fathom how you make it work, but knowing Hawley's pedigree am also very excited to find out.

Yeah, I also thought it looked like a Bayformers movie for a second there. 

The thing I really appreciate about these movies is the spectacular level of dumbness to which they commit themselves. There’s no effort to ground the action in any kind of plausibility, like having a scientist character namedrop Einstein-Rosen Bridges in a Marvel movie. It’s just straight-up 19th Century Hollow Earth…

So finally saw the Marvels....the hate it’s getting from critics and some fans is unearned. Yes there were some plot holes and the villian barely got an arc but the overall plot was strong enough, the jokes landed and the fight chroegohraphy and editing were solid esp in that first “switch” fight.
