I think the problem was timing. They were putting rain sensing wipers and auto climate control in Jettas (mk4) back when upping to a civic “EX” got you a sunroof and a CD player. They should have decontented back then. Instead they decontented when the rest of the market was starting to upcontent.

The programming only happens once, at startup until the first time 15 degree steering angle happens. I cant think of any real world situation where you wouldn’t turn the steering wheel more than 15 degrees shortly after startup. This programming is specifically designed to outwit testing only, and not be applicable…
