I mean, one could make the case that it hadn't found its footing yet but you're not wrong & the early ratings were horrid. He was probably too odd a fit in that timeslot on NBC.

Our current president had an exceedingly pleasant visit at said oasis, as you're probably aware.

He is, like, a smart person after all.

I'm not even sure Yule would cop to "loving it". He's likened it to a teenage creative writing assignment, if memory serves (that is, something he did as a document at a certain time, but not exactly representative of him). The band's manager at the time was fairly odious to begin with & the Velvet Underground name

I think John Cale > Reed as far as solo career quality goes, personally, & I'm not sure it's that close. Reed does have some nice & indisputable highs but it is a considerably more uneven ride than that of Cale's altogether, imo.

I feel like there are some songs which could be considered filler on Loaded so I would definitely put it fourth too, but it is still a fantastic LP with great resonance. Sweet Jane and Rock & Roll are two of Lou Reed's most enduring compositions.

Mine is probably Highway 61 Revisited (also produced by the fantastic Tom Wilson) or Revolver, but it's right there. Almost anything that would subsequently be classified as alternative/punk/fringe can be followed back to The VU & Nico.

Coincidentally, I was just listening to some of this album last night while running errands and then on my way in this AM, for the first time in a long time. It's been one of my all time top ten LPs practically from the first time I heard it in & it is still an absolute revelation. Just an almost otherworldly fusion

Rolling Stones - Moonlight Mile
George Harrison - Run Of The Mill
The Long Winters - Scared Straight
Blur - For Tomorrow
The Smiths - What Difference Does It Make? (from the debut)
Flying Burrito Bros - Hot Burrito #1
Jimi Hendrix experience - May This Be Love
The Jam - Art School
Peter Tosh - Igziabeher (Let Jah Be Praised)

How is that SN Golden IPA? I liked the Tropical IPA Beer Camp last Spring/Summer quite a bit but haven't taken the plunge yet on this year's.

That was wonderfully stated and his comments in the Mike Pence section about anti-LGBTQ sentiment ("Who the fuck are you to throw a log in the road of somebody who has a different set of difficulties in life?") really stuck out to me too. Great and thoughtful read.

Surprisingly, he was a biochemical engineering major at the University of Iowa before beginning his modeling career.

He is certainly that & I like him well enough as a standalone choice. I'd opine that there really wasn't a need to field him as a candidate in the first place though considering Keith Ellison was a perfectly suitable & near ideal progressive candidate.

I'm a fan too but I feel like many of his lyrics over the past decade plus really walk a tightrope between extremely witty and almost cringeworthy. I've thought this about the great John Prine at points of his career before also, so it's not an indictment or anything.

I think that replacing the dad character in such a scenario with just about anybody would be a pretty damn good idea..

However, assuming that all the candidates do indeed suck to some degree (a near certainty), let's hope that more folks vote for the one candidate with a realistic path to victory who clearly sucks the least.

What, is she funny or something?

Remember that movie Frailty? He was all kinds of unsettling as the fanatically religious father in the flashbacks within that movie.

Troegs Java Head Stout (7.5 ABV). It's a nice oatmeal stout infused with coffee which I'd recommend if one is into stouts. Troegs is probably one of my favorite east coast breweries actually.

Anderson Valley offerings shows up in Wegmans country pretty frequently although I can't say definitively whether I've seen the one above. Otherwise, yeah, I'm with you.
