Of course you can, but how good paying of a job can you get without a degree? A server position at a choice restaurant or bar could net you 50-70 grand if you are good at it and don't blow your money on alcohol. You don't need an HDTV. Any TV with an HDMI connector or an adapter will work. HDMI to DVI adapters will work for many available monitors.
