"You always were an asshole, Gorman."

THINGS TO DO TODAY:
* Get groceries
* Walk dog
* Delete murder spreadsheet from computer

You can subscribe through Amazon, which means it's streamable anywhere Amazon is - I watch it on my Roku. (That's also handy because you can add Shudder films to your Amazon watchlist.)

I've been really liking my Shudder subscription. It's a great deal ($5/month) and they have lots of interesting horror movies that aren't on any of the other streaming services. (The batshit insane German serial killer flick Angst is worth the price of admission alone.)

This movie is very very silly and I love it. It's like the Vicious Brothers (which is a pretty strange name to give yourself, guys) watched the House on Haunted Hill remake and were like "this is just too realistic for us"

That's kind of a weird complaint to lob at Blair Witch, which I think is a noble failure - the problem is that it's too inventive. Barrett & Wingard throw tons of ideas at the audience and some of them are really crazy. It is very clearly a Barrett & Wingard joint, but the problem is that the Blair Witch mythology

I didn't even realize how many warm feelings I had for Letterman until I saw that video thumbnail pop up. I watched him on Late Night for decades and it's great to see him back, even if it's for a one-off like this.

You buried the lede: Eli Craig also wrote and directed the excellent Tucker and Dale vs Evil, so I'm on board for anything he does. Dude is a horror-comedy genius. (It's also exciting to see that Tyler Labine will be in this movie too.)

Omitted from this write-up is the fact that Fenriz is one of the most delightful people in metal. He is legitimately hilarious & goofy in interviews, and generally acts the exact opposite of how you'd expect an elder statesman of the black metal community to behave. (See also his fascinating "black metal university"

This could actually be good - I found Gerald's Game to be one of King's creepier novels due to its leftfield genre switch-up towards the end, and Flanagan is a talented director. Done right, this could be very memorable.

Oh good, the asshole behind the racist military-fetish fapfest Lone Survivor gets to do more of that shit, this time on television. Good job, America.

While I agree completely that that's the real endgame of freeze peach arguments, I think the neglect comes in when they argue that unfettered free speech is good for everybody, which is manifestly false.

You can - just use "inspect element" (at least, that works in Chrome)

As a sidebar, this is why I can't totally get on the Gawker hate train. Yes, they did a lot of sketchy shit, but they also had some truly important reporting (like the Violentacrez expose).

Yeah, complaints about the need for "free speech" neglect the fact that said free speech really only provides a safe open forum for majority/non-marginalized groups, which effectively restricts the speech of other groups.

Washington is on Letterboxd now, if you need your Washington fix

Counterpoint: "hipster" is a meaningless insult used in place of "I don't like that person's aesthetic and I'm gonna be shitty about it." It's lazy and reductive.

Oh man this sounds great. Between this & Don't Breathe it's gonna be a good weekend for horror.

Ok Baz

I wonder how he's going to shoehorn an idiotic rant about the evils of SJWs into this one
