A lot of other cities that didn’t host the Olympics bought themselves tanks and paramilitary equipment in the 80's and 90's. Did they host secret Olympics, ghost Olympics?

This is a small blip on the war on communities of color in LA that blossomed with Chief Parker and got worse with his clone Daryl Gates. Maybe there was a couple million dollars that wouldn’t have been there, but Daryl Gates would not have been a tolerant, solutions oriented Chief of Police if the Olympics in 84…

Have you looked at the plan? They are going to use existing venues (which LA has in abundance) for these sports. Convention Center, Long Beach State, Anaheim, Galen Center, Carson tennis center (or maybe the UCLA tennis center). The city has been so quick to get the plan approved, I don’t see a chance to add a bunch…

For once I’m going to agree with Deadspin on the Olympics. This should not have been pushed through so quickly. There needs to be more time to create and learn about the budget. HOWEVER

I believe Deadspin has a strict Olympic hate editorial policy. There are no details in the post of any negative effects of an LA Olympics other than other cities have over promised and mismanaged their Olympics.
