I learned on 2e a long time ago—and I took an actual summer course on it for two years taught by a wizened old man who looked like a wizard. It was loads of fun. I played Warhammer in college (we played in German, in order to better our vocabulary), which is a more "realistic" version of D&D (meaning it's harder to

I should add: We have no debt, we're a young couple (mid 20's-we somehow got through college without loans), and we jumped at the opportunity to move abroad because they always say to travel while you're young, but the young frequently don't have money to travel. When he was offered a position in Europe (for less than

I've actually fallen off the bandwagon. For me, it's harder to save during the summer because there are so many fun things to do, especially after being cooped up all winter. I'm still saving, but nowhere near my normal levels. As long as Mint has me in the green at the end of the month, I'm relatively happy.

Just FYI - The first woman ever, Julie Michaels, was nominated for the Stunt Coordination Emmy this past weekend. She was nominated for Shameless. She didn't win, but this is a huge step forward for the female stunt community, because it's very difficult for women to be hired to stunt coordinate. Stuntmen don't like

Columbia has actually been pretty good in showing sensitivity to the LGBT community in recent years, hence the name.

Ad astra per aspera, apparently.

They do this at the NY Ren Faire, too, but I thought it was funny. And the rose was only $1. By far the least-extortionist thing to buy at a Ren Faire.

I'm reading through the cards that have been posted, but are there any that give good rewards without higher percentages for gas? I use public transportation, so I wouldn't benefit from a gas reward.

Thank you for the truffle oil mention.

for Hemingway over Faulkner

How does one become an approved commenter?

One of my FB friend's posts was really douchy—he didn't understand why people were so moved by an actor's death. I basically said fuck you, RW was my dad's friend, they worked together for years, and it's okay if people are moved by the death of an artist. There are better things to worry about.

I bought the second book. I hope it's not as rapey/abusive, but I won't get my hopes up.

The thing is, when I was a student at Columbia (not that long ago! I graduated in 2011), they were HUGELY obsessive about consensual sex and awareness. There were free condom dispensers everywhere, in places that students regularly go. They would hand out lollipops that would said, "Don't be a sucker. Ask before you

I did eventually finish the book, but I thought it was weird that she then also has to fight him at the end so that he has his will to live? Idk—the book got really weird from the beating scene and on. Between the beating and the butt rape and then having Claire recreate it at the monastery and then having Jamie

I liked the pilot, but I have to point out in the books it can get that mildly rapey sort of "romantic" sex (even though there are some actual near-miss rapes). Also there's one point where he beats her and she forgives him like the next day. I was super mad when that happened. I would not have forgiven him for weeks

That's okay. I used to go to the bookstore and specifically ask for books to find because the guy who worked there looked like Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Ewan McGregor version.

...I guess you've never been to a Jewish breakfast... Or to NYC...

I would prefer to take out my stress through exercise, as I do now, than by my old regime, which was binge eating. It's all about control. And this way, at least I'm doing something good for my body. I can now open jars all by myself. That's a mighty improvement.
