Good job not even addressing the main point, which is that nintendo chose to do something silly which on the face of it appears to provide no net utility.

What I'm curious about is why it needs to be anything more than it was on the old DS. The old one may have been a "little piece of plastic cheapness", but it worked damn well. I nary had an issue with it, so why should I want a more expensive version?

Given that it will take that long before a genuine worthwhile software library develops, that's the plan.
