Good diagrams, except for very, very cars use a multi plate (likely wet) clutch like that (common in motorcycles) and there are many hybrid transmissions now. For example, the ZF9 spd uses some planetary, and some traditional gear sets. The way back machine also brings us to the Model T, which was a manually shifted

I still need to tune my “sarcasm in Jalopnik comments section” filter...

No Sean, it does not mean that. I hope you were being sarcastic.

I truly hope this is a nice lesson thanks to Joe for all the armchair attorneys that are seeing this unfold. Don’t fuck with good faith. Be a good person.

Internet lawyers are the best! I have taken a few people to small claims court. Usually they are the real-life equivalent of internet lawyers. It is like taking candy from a baby. I am not a lawyer, but I have a ton of lawyer friends so I came in well prepped and the judge VERY quickly decided in my favor. Their

This also makes me so happy. It reminds me of my previous landlord. A women who did many things that were not in good faith. We left the apartment and it has been vacant for months now. She has lost many thousands of dollars by acting like a vindictive douche to my GF and I. Karma. I love it.

I am a vindictive douche fuck with many things, and even this is far beyond what I would ever consider. I am a TDI owner and am angry/frustrated with the situation since I LOVE my car, but I would never, ever consider this.

What Joe did was absolutely stupid and irresponsible. What Joe did is similar to what other bold idiots have done that have caused us to have insanely long contracts and agreements for everything. Simple life rule: don’t act like a fool and don’t do anything that you would not want done to you. Don’t play games.

Montmorency County is in Northern Lower Michigan. This is not in Ann Arbor. Get yo’ shit together Jalopnik!

Their attorneys likely left it vague on purpose so that they could interpret it as they wish...such as this case.

The definition of “operable” is going to be the sticking point here if this ever makes it to a judge or lawyers. Operable, in the spirit of the original agreement, clearly means a car that can run/sold/drive/be registered (other than the whole emissions issue) with no damage that was caused maliciously to exploit this

...because everyone on Jalopnik is an attorney! I happen to agree with VW here. What he did was clearly malicious. He admitted it was malicious. He admitted it was to take advantage of his reading of the contract and what some hourly representative told him. This is definitely not in the spirit of the offer. Good luck

This is so stupid. 1) What a giant waste of time. Yes, it sucks that your car that you loved is being turned in, but there is no need to antagonize an innocent dealer like this. Dealers hate this as much as owners do. 2) Now he has to sell all this crap? Count me out of wheeling and dealing in a bunch of used car

I am about to get rid of my TDI Golf (I love the car but the risk of it getting totaled and then not receiving a payout if/when they can fix them is too big). This article has me looking all over Craigslist for a TL! Thank you for the wonderful suggestion :)

Thank god you mentioned this. Pearns is the most epic individual of all time.

I will continue to happily drive my lovely 15 Golf SportWagen TDI 6spd getting over 50mpg on the highway while all these suckers turn theirs in. Likely the last model year of a manual diesel wagon from WV. Car guy porn. If they actually come up with a way to fix these I will have a very, very rare bird.

Heat is your best friend with old rusty things made of iron. Get an OA torch. Heat will magically make things (like that head) slide right apart. Oh yea...make sure to use LOTS of heat when replacing the head studs!
