Is that The Nanny Diaries?

There is definitely a word missing after the $25 in the Scarlett piece and I’m pretty sure it’s “million”

I’ve explained this to many over the years. As an, at the time, avid reader of rec.arts.star-trek I can’t imagine what say twitter would have been like 30 odd years ago.

I don’t want to watch Mirror Universe Top Chef, I’ll say that.

I hope this is true. I thought the one she picked looked an awful lot like Saru.

No, Saru is still back on the Shenzhou. Burnham are the one the Emperor offered her to pick from the three that were there as a gift. She assumed she was picking a new slave, when it was really more like the lobster tank and a restaurant.

While I expect that Discovery will have a small core cast, I doubt they will ever have a 7-8 person ensemble that sticks around until the series finale, like past Trek shows.

So, the writers competently seeded their storylines, rather than having shit happen at random?

It was a popular fan theory, but they didnt “know” anything.

I’m curious how so many people managed to figure out before tonight that Lorca is actually Mirror Lorca. As soon as I heard it suggested I thought “Yeah, they’re totally going to do that.”, but if there were actual clues in the show I missed them.

In regards to Lorca’s big twist, I was hoping he’d be a good man fighting societal conditioning, and that’s why he seemed rough around the edges for the typical Starfleet captain. His coup would be more engaging and sympathetic if he intended it for the same values and ideals the rebels and the Federation embody.

All of a sudden they’re light sensitive? What a weird thing to change.

Could be the live-action TV series coming to Disney’s new streaming service.

Normally I’m with you, but man - do you know how rare it is that any woman is considered in the running for anything like that? Especially a woman who came up DPing no budget indies? Just makes me happy.

She last made a movie with him in 2008, nearly a decade ago and before Dylan Farrow came out with her editorial. She has no obligation to make a statement nor do the other hundreds of actors who have worked with him over the years.

Something is happening. I had a quick trip to Sundance this year and women I’ve known for years, who’ve never been able to get their films much attention, are getting standing ovations. Women I’ve known who are hardened by the system broke down yesterday. It’s nuts. I’m seeing some attention on women-centric projects

Thanks.

God, why do they never date women in something approaching their own age group?

I agree. The movie was very odd in that it never established a tone; it seem to waver between satire, stalker drama, and supernatural thriller. This made Kristen Stewart’s performance more impressive in that she had almost nothing to play against. I read some time ago that she is a character actress in the guise of a
