I was expecting the hybrid concept, based on all the rumours. What I really wasn’t expecting was for Nintendo to actually listen to users and switch around the right thumbstick and button diamond.

Seriously. I’m genuinely impressed by that. I figured that Nintendo were going to keep following the same logic as Sony for

Only consoles? No Steam / GOG love? (I’m not counting Origin or Uplay.)

I wish the developers would provide a checksum for the official files, so that future downloaders could verify the files haven’t been tampered with by other uploaders.

Fortunately my fiancée and I downloaded the files (the main .msi & the latest zipped patch files to bring it up to 1.01) before they got overloaded then

Will the plastic yellow in time like the SNES? ;)

I know the “7 Stages Of Grief” image is in jest, but we really shouldn’t spread the myth of defined stages of grief.

The psychologist who popularised this, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, is credited with explaining that she regretted writing the stages in the way she did, since people mistook them for being linear and

Hopefully his campaign will avoid becoming a cat-astrophe.

Yays! That should make it possible for the anime to be picked up again!

Glad to have helped someone by mentioning it :)

When I first read about ASMR, I thought it might be the explanation for the positive reaction I have to certain music and sounds, but further research actually pointed to a different thing altogether called “frisson”.

Thought I’d mention this for anyone else who gets pleasurable musical chills but doesn’t know the name

Pretty sure Valve abandoned flash sales in favour of having a constant sale price for the whole sale period.

I’m personally hoping this kind of behaviour gets their game kicked off Steam. I’m sure a few people have reported the developer over it and I’m sure that Valve will not want to be associated with hateful homophobes.

Very nice, but I’m still waiting for OLED monitors to trickle down in price. (I’m painfully aware I’m probably going to be waiting for the next decade or so.)

Looks quite low budget unfortunately in terms of the special effects, unless the footage is from before post-production. Looks more like a high-level indie / student film. (Not saying this to be snarky. Might well still be very good. Just calling it as I see it.)

Nintendo has a lot of cash saved up, yes, but so does Valve. I wasn’t making a true economic takeover assessment, in any event: I just want someone else in charge of Nintendo’s assets so they’ll stop sitting on them, like with F-Zero and so on.

In any case, we clearly have different tastes in games, as I can’t even

You know that Steam machines are pre-built like consoles, right?

They’re designed to function as consoles for people who don’t want a full-on PC for gaming.

Wow, judgemental much? That’s pretty passive-aggressive.

I’m open to new ideas and went full-in with the Wii... for a time. It gave some fun, but ultimately just faded out.

I’ve tried the Wii U and I’ve seen the list of games, but it’s a small library of good games, not must-have games. It just isn’t worth the

Indeed, but I’d still rather that someone could actually knock some sense into Nintendo and jar them out of the rut they’re stuck in.

Agree to disagree there. Not enough must-have games to buy dedicated hardware and peripherals. I’d rather spend that money on upgrading my PC this year and buying cheaper games from Steam.

I’ve already skipped the Wii U for its lack of power, a decent game library (i.e., a library expansive enough to justify the console / peripheral cost) and control inputs, so it’ll be the second one for me if Nintendo continues to walk down this dark path.

I’m at the point where I just want Valve to buy Nintendo. We’d
