And I think he got off with like a slap on the wrist cause his daddy was in bed with the DA.

Thanks. He was a member of a museum I volunteer at. His family told us the news. He had a wife and two teenage daughters and was the primary source of the family’s income. It also turned out he was a hoarder and we spent weeks helping the family deal with that. They were utterly and totally devastated. That was over 6

My condolences and much empathy. I’d be tortured by that if I’d lost one of my best friends as I don’t have any family at all, just friends. Only nine months incarceration for carelessly taking a person’s life is an outrage.

Cyclists are feeling the pain everywhere, especially in NYC.

For whatever reason, bicyclists and motorcyclists seem to have less value than car passengers when it comes to getting hit on the roadway. Maybe they think we’re assuming the risk by willingly being more exposed out there. But I’ve seen way too many stories over the years of cyclists getting hit and the driver (even

British friend of mine moved to Portland. Before he left I asked him about what he felt about the weather. He said he would be ok, he’s British where it also rains a lot so he would be all-good. He’s been there a year and even for him it rains way too much.

Sincere thanks AV Club and Ms. White - that was informative and helpful.

I really got back into cycling during the pandemic. I own a mid 80's Nishiki 10 speed that I’ve slowly restored, new brakes, sprocket, wheels, etc. I have thought about joining some sort of cycling group but am always a little hesitant since what I see often are people with super nice carbon fiber frames and fancy

Wasn’t it just last year that dipshit tried to “roll coal” on a bunch of cyclists but ended up plowing his truck into them, sending some to the hospital in critical condition? And the cops didn’t even arrest the driver. I think it was Texas.

You can do that here in Pennsylvania too. Ride on red law.

Let’s be honest though about the FRUSTRATION cyclists must cause you and I.

It takes us what, waiting an earnest 15-30 seconds for a safe moment to pass?

All we’re doing in a car is sitting in a comfy chair and flexing our little ankle a few degrees to rocket at 60mph.

We’ve got our music on, we’re air conditioned...

Here in some cities in france cyclists can legally run red light if they checked no car or pedestrian was incoming. I tell you, it’s great and involves no additional danger. A bike is not a car.

Nonsense. It doesn’t rain “all the time.” It rains constantly for 8 1/2 months, and then sporadically for 3 1/2.

What is wrong with people? Bicyclists have ZERO protection against cars.

Based on Bikeportland.com reports the Portland Police Bureau is equally bad at investigating and prosecuting drivers hitting cyclists, exacerbated by ODOT prioritizing truck traffic over bike lanes and fighting "road diets" more tenaciously than the Ukrainians in Bakhmut. Portland is a cycling Potemkin Village and

Yes he should go home and blow his brains out. That is what I would do after murdering someone.

What do you think is appropriate punishment for a driver negligently killing someone related to you & blaming the victim for their death?

Those damn cyclists who don’t abide by the traffic laws. And surely you’ve never gone a mile ever the speed limit on the highway, right?

If only drivers were as law abiding as you think...

Right now with the book bannings, persecution of minorities, and rewriting of history, it’s quite identical to 1933/34 nazi Germany, minus the concentration camps the nazis setup 1-2 months after the reichstag fire, but maybe that’s what adolf de santis plans for his Disney World takeover. After 2024, it may well be
