Not the point. My wife used to race carts but doesn’t know how to drive stick. She’d love this course because she’d learn how to use a manual and have fun with it on a track, plus we live in LA so it’s a day trip. I’m seriously thinking about it for a birthday gift for her.

That’s exactly how I learned to drive a stick, with a red POS 10+ year old Corolla. You only learn the basics of the basics however, the rest I mastered myself in a BRAND FORKING NEW PRELUDE SH WHITE WITH RED H EMBLEM.

I downshift into subsequent gears, usually when the revs fall below 2k, I’ll downshift to the next gear. I only declutch and brake when I’ve slow down to under 5 or 10 mph.

If I ever get the Viper that is what the kids will learn on.

My dad showed me the basics, had me drive up to the foothills, got out and said I should practice as much as I could and then took a bus back to work.  After a few hours I was an expert at driving stick.

Kids these days. <facepalm>

we’re hitting the end of a lot of the ‘10 year’ licensing deals i guess huh! so now we’re in a weird spot where you have to license the first 3 seasons from disney and the last 2 from netflix.

Can confirm that this method is golden for people who have ADD/ADHD or other processing issues, or who are just terrified or ashamed of their lack of cleaning skills. It removes the whole issue of “this mess is overwhelming” and breaks it down to a process of identifying things - right now I’m looking for trash, is

True but as one commenter pointed out, I can’t fathom why manufacturers put a short 6th gear in. You never got 6th on a track outside the Ring, so why? My GT4 is pulling 3200 RPM on the highway at 80mph. Why?! I just did 140mph at the Glen two weeks ago and was nowhere close to needing 6th gear. 6th needs to be a true

I used to beat the EPA estimate for my M235i by a good 4-5mpg on the highway, and the same with my 328!. Whether the autotragic can do better is moot, because I would never buy one so equipped anyway. <shrug>

For one efficiency differences between autos and manuals have been much reduced. And the auto has much taller 7th and 8th gears which benefit high speed fuel economy.

Much easier to game EPA ratings in an auto because you can program it to shift for maximum efficiency, at least under the throttle loads used in EPA testing. In a manual they are required to shift 1-2 at 15 MPH and then continue to upshift at exactly 10MPH intervals thereafter. An auto can be mapped to shift wherever

Now...Do they offer a fake scoop/vent delete package?

It’s BS, both my cars are manual and I average at least 5mpg more than what the EPA suggests. People are just too binary, off and on with their driving.

Striking like a bat upside the head to me. Eye searingly ugly.

Thanks Nissan for forcing Toyota to correct this baffling decision.

I understand that manual transmissions don’t make a ton of financial sense anymore on normal cars. But if you’re specifically targeting an enthusiast/tuner crowd, even a more middle-aged one, to not include a manual option was completely stupid.

and engineers don’t need to worry about engine lug with a modern auto. So the final gear can be much lower than what you could get with a stick.

Only problem is BMW only let Toyota use iDrive 6 instead of 7, so say goodbye to any Wireless Carplay or Android Auto as a whole. Your only option is wired Carplay

The company went back to the drawing board and found a way to offer the GR Supra with the manual transmission it was missing at launch.”

It’s full BMW interior and electronics, so yes it has iDrive albeit with a reskinned interface versus BMW. Which is honestly a good thing because iDrive is far and away better than Entune or whatever Toyota’s system is called (also better than Lexus’s system).
