Please correct me if I’m wrong, but pretty sure Ford and Chrysler have used CAGS as well. Blame the EPA’s procedure for testing manual trans cars. Without CAGS, the shift into fourth doesn’t occur until nearly 40mph under EPA fuel economy testing. With it, 1st to 4th happens at 15 mph. To disable it costs much less

I suspected that was the case. Thanks for confirming.

The facelifted NSX was “ruined” so much by its significantly better aerodynamics that its top speed increased by over 10mph!

For any given model year, the Z33/34 has the highest output VQ available (in North America at least). The 2008 G37 coupe, which received the VQ37VHR one model year before the 370Z debuted, is the lone exception. 2007-08 350Z has 306 HP (SAE certified) VQ35HR

great post and all very valid points!

Holy shit, that’s awesome.

Fuck. Dave. Mustaine.

R35 GT-R is NOT a Skyline

Yet Nissan has a far more illustrious history in sportscar racing compared to Chrysler. Especially in the US with American teams and drivers.

hmm..according to NADA, 1991 3000GTs started under $20k, while the Z was over $27k and the more comparable 2+2 was over $30k. The 240sx was a lot closer in price ($16k base). Base Mark IV Supra was $10k more expensive than 3000GT in 1993. The SL trim (what the hell did they add for $5k???) is still a $5k discrepancy

Is that because the were the cheapest? Or because they were on sale for more model years?

$80K?? You’ve got to be thinking of the Spyder retractable hardtop- $20k above the standard VR-4.

Damn, at least he CSX was an improvement over the Shadow, lol. I’d take the DNA donor Mitsubishi Eclipse over the VR-4 any day. Those 3000GTs were great to look at though.

Considering VR-4s used a plebeian chassis from the Eclipse/Galant (w/ front struts) and a DOHC turbo variant of the V6 used in 80’s Chrysler products, that’s a pretty big insult against Godzilla, lol. That and there was a GT-R in the 90’s.

Damn, you have a heavy Mustang!!

Pretty sure that the exhaust gimmick was ditched sometime (95 MY?) after the first refresh

That’s odd, because the split port 3.8 used in the New Edge Mustangs is notably more reliable than the earlier 3.8s which are notorious for head gasket issues. That ,along with 40+ hp, is a major reason they are a somewhat popular swap into older SN-95 and other Fords. “New Edge” refers to the body (and engine)

The worst Mustang has to be the V6 New Edge Mustang

New Edge V6 was rated at 190hp. Original SN-95 (pre 99) base engine was 145-150 hp ...definitely worse. Fox body Stang had multiple sub 100hp engines.
