Musk was a cofounder of a company called Global Link (later renamed zip2). The only money his father kicked in was around $20K. It was later sold to Compaq. The money Musk got from that sale was used to cofound X.com. Eventually X.com merged with Confinity and the new company changed its name to Paypal. The money from

A few years ago I took a flight on Spirit Airlines.   While the plane was a cattle car, there was no worry that the seat in front of me was going to recline - the seats were all fixed upright.   A small win for a meh flight.

That Firebird is one of the reasons I don’t miss Pontiac. To me Pontiac became a car company whose cars had exteriors with large trim pieces made of cheap plastic that would fall off and interiors full of cheap plastic just waiting to break.

Wonder if this will be used by car manufacturers to go after aftermarket replacement body parts.

It’s more like “maximizing slaveowner value”.

It takes me about two hours to mow my yard. My fitness tracker tells me I do around 9000 steps. No way would the current electric mowers work.

So much “all new” that it might be wise to wait a couple of years for the bugs to be worked out....

If I wanted a car with an automatic I’d buy a fucking Camry.   The C8 is the first Corvette that I’d say *Nope* to.  And I don’t care if it can shift faster than a manual - I wouldn’t be driving it at a racetrack.

If you can quickly swap the batteries, you can quickly steal the batteries. Just look at catalytic converters......

While its good to see the uptick in EV sales, the auto market is so weird right now that it is difficult to come to valid conclusions.

With Blue Origin’s lander the astronauts are 32 feet above the surface.   That will require an elevator considering how bulky the spacesuits are.    Once you require an elevator the difference in heights becomes somewhat immaterial.

Back in the 1970's Japanese cars rusted out even faster than the American cars.  And small cars were considered to be death traps.

EVs are an American concept.   It gives you freedom - just put in a bunch of solar panels in your yard and you can fill up your EV - you are free of gas stations, oil companies, etc.

While it’s fun to look at the available colors from different manufacturers the vast majority of cars are black, white, silver, gray.

I could always take my Alltrack, lower it, add in Golf R Variant suspension bits, IS38 turbo, big downpipe and a stage 2 ecu tune.   It would be alot cheaper than a real R Varient and it has a manual.
