I disagree with all of this. If the future is self driving electric cars, then it will be easier for the small manufacturers. On my 2004 Sable wagon (brown), using the parking brake can cause the rear disk brake pad to stick, causing premature wear of the rear brakes. So I only use the parking brake on a hill.

I got 70K miles off the fronts, and 148K miles off the rears on my car. With 246K miles on my car I’ve only replaced the rears once.

Looked at the iM a couple of months ago. If they sold the wagon version, I probably would have bought it. The are better options if I want a hatch, no so if I want a wagon.

I second the Impreza with the CVT as the worst. Dealer didn’t have any manuals, so I thought I’d try one anyway.
