I don’t know exactly how your daughter feels or the discussions that you’ve had, so you may have already considered all of this, in which case more power to you and your daughter. I don’t think I’d have been able to make that choice if I were in your daughter’s shoes.

Based on every TV plastic surgeon I have ever watched, any kind of procedure in America is scary. I occasionally stumble on to one of those youtube videos where trans people document their experience. The Korean option seems good, all-in-one cover for an airfare, an English-speaking guide who is with them throughout,

Huffpost did a feature about a nurse in Austin who talked about why she loved her job you should check out.  I thought I had it bookmarked but it was in the last week or so.

Agreed, 100%. Other people’s medical decisions and how they raise their kids are totally their business, but as a woman who transitioned post-puberty...That bell can’t be un-rung, and it takes an enormous amount of effort to offset the effects.

I mean, if you absolutely, 100% have no way to get your daughter on some kind of testosterone blockers, or even estrogen (which will naturally knock down T via the HPG axis); well, that really sucks. But if there is a way for you to do it, I would definitely give it more thought.

That is flippin’ adorable, and it does my heart good to see the kids flourishing (thanks in no small part to supportive parents!)

That makes sense, although not offering blockers to under-16yos is kind of wild. Kind of like “we only sell locks to people who have already been burgled!”

I’m guessing you and your daughter are familiar with the Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the wonderful Dr. Christopher Lewis. If not, run there immediately and sign up for an appointment. Great place with lots of support for the kiddo and parents!

Can you explain a bit further on the blockers thing? I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I would give anything to have been able to take blockers before entering puberty. Puberty is what leads to a need for looooooong hours of electrolysis, careful vocal training, and a host of other things that are simply

I’m not familiar with Rumer, being geographically distant from her area of operations and also mostly post-transition at this point, but this reminds me a bit of the Kermit Gosnell story, or of those women who do unter-the-table silicone injections that often have terrible complications. Obviously, there are notable

Just wanted to chime in that there’s nothing to be afraid of - there are ton of good, compassionate, skilled surgeons out there, and new talent coming to the field now that insurance is starting to cover it more.

To say Kathy Rumer has a “reputation” in trans circles would be a bit of an understatement. Like, even the best surgeons will have some complications, mediocre results, disgruntled patients, or whatever else on their track record. But Rumer has more than the rest of the well known surgeons combined, and never in a

It’s definitely possible this is the case, though is it not worth professionals review guardianship any time something seems suspect? The system would be extremely vulnerable to abusers & grifters if nothing was reviewed every time somebody hardly close to the person under guardianship felt like they weren’t suffering

It’s quite frankly really worrying that not a single judge has ever requested that her conservatorship be conducted by someone other than a family member with a vested interest in her financial success.

This would be a GREAT opportunity for the Academy to set a new precedent and strip this motherfucker of his Oscar.  Go back to the vote tallies, find who got runner up, and give them the award.

He is not gooding at all.

A friend of mine’s son was a dancer in her Vegas show. She is honestly happy and fine and people need to just let her live. I will never understand why anyone - after knowing what she went through- want to believe Britney lives anything but a healthy life. With everything she has been through, the media obsession over

I just don’t get the necklace. Not that it’s ugly or anything, it’s that it’s so plain and unremarkable. It’s a glorified charm bracelet. And with just four letters on it, one letter is going to be the low point making it look uneven, as one side will have two letters going up while the other side will only have one.

I could see the moral opprobrium against Lords if someone had gone to jail for raping her within the ambit of a legitimate porn shoot despite having checked her ID, verifying its authenticity (i.e., that it was a real ID), and believing in good faith that she was the age she claimed to be. But that did not happen—and

Ugh, that podcast sounds really gross and victim-blamey. I always like Lords during her later acting career.
