I’m a big BMW fan but I’m OK w/ some models going FWD. BMW knows how to build a fwd car ... see Mini.

Definitely understand from DIY rattle-can application. I was speaking more from a manufacturing side where no OEM would accept a fully painted rotor that will then be scraped bare by the brake pad. And machining costs money; probably more than masking.

Not a problem as long as you’re going faster than everyone else.

Let’s say it costs 50 cents a piece to paint one (and that’s probably a low estimate given that it has to be masked in some way) ... if a manufacturer is making 1,000,000 cars, that’s $2 million dollars ... for something most people don’t even notice or care about.

I do this every time ... but then again I only wash my car about 5 times a year. lol

Wood you look at that?

“The fact that they’re in right-to-work states means that will probably remain the case in the near future, since right-to-work laws make it really, really difficult to form a union and keep one.”

In Kentucky, I could make a Nascar car street legal in a couple hours worth of modification. It has to have: headlights, turn signals, tail/brake lights, wipers and horn. That’s it ...

Your whole article rides on the assumption that the average person even cares about the number behind the badge. Case in point: I could park a BMW 316d next to a 335i and the average person would say they like the one with a pretty color better...

It’s the latest mall crawler rage!

Can you not take your FRS to a Subaru dealership for warranty work? Just curious how that works as the cars are identical (and in my mind dealers should be able to charge for warranty work) or is it basically based on whatever badge is on the car?

They’d need a hazmat crew to clean up the aftermath ...

Love the car, love the orange accents!

Not a huge fan of the Civic-style rear end, but everything else seems really nice!

Bolting 2 VW VR6s together would be much better as the length would be roughly the size of their original I-8 (maybe slightly longer).

Why store a spare dirty wheel on the seat? Why put duct tape on a body panel that already has wrap? If you have money for an F40, surely you can pay someone a few hundred to rewrap that panel.

Sounds Acura-te.

Not to mention that he says it “only cost $16 for the whole trip” ... My 16 year old VW could do that without breaking a sweat, and at no point would I have to walk in -40 or worry that I won’t be able to fill up ...

As long as you maintain the same overall diameter, it shouldn’t.

I don’t mind stopping at the pump every 4 days vs 5 days for 3 minutes if that means I don’t have to worry about how much I run the heat in the car will have a direct impact on whether or not I am able to make it home ...
