And I had hoped wearing a mask to prevent the spread of a f***ing deadly disease could be politics-free as well, but thanks to the aforementioned moron, here we are.

I’m sure there is a many-page-long power point on some Merc engineer’s computer demonstrating that steering and suspension are two very different and in no way linked no way no how no ifs and or buts about it systems.

My friend spend like 4 months through hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. I flew to Maine and then flew to Georgia in the same day just to show him how stupid he is.

Absolutely. I’ll bet this person also laughs at others for listening to “outdated” music. Driving a manual car doesn’t cease being fun just because there’s a more efficient method, just like great music never stops being great music, even if it’s not on today’s charts.

At one time I was a huge fan of WD-40. Why? Because my Dad used it, of course. However over the years I have come to realize that it is not the universal panacea that it is credited with. This is especially true when it is applied as a lubricant. Because it is a fairly volatile, it evaporates and leaves the surfaces

Apparently, this is not a new issue. IIRC, it was in the late 1960s or early 1970s when a car magazine ran an article on a US assembly plant. They reported that final door adjustments were made with a 2x4 wrapped in carpet.

These videos extreme, but it’s not unusual to see soft mallets being used on door strikers and hinges on final inspection in domestic plants. It went something like this at a domestic sedan plant:

I’ve been driving for 28 years and have never run out of gas. I have run out of fuel in my boat and since it’s a diesel, it’s a real pain in the ass. Two tanks, not connected and no fuel gauge (I stick the tanks to see if they he levels) makes paying attention paramount.

They are to be sacrificed...thrown into the pit, as an offering.

I am an engineer and have an MBA.

Much like my thoughts on the Honda Ridgeline, I’ll believe these things are legitimate trucks the day I see more than one real farmer using one to haul cattle.

It only matters when the person selling said vehicle is marketing the vehicle as being better than ICE. If it was being marketing accordingly, people wouldn’t be calling it out non-stop.

The only batteries in that locomotive are used for starting the electronics. They aren’t even used for starting the diesel - they are nearly universally air-start.

Why not just redirect to this guy's YouTube channel when I click the link?  Or put his EE logo on the banner so I know not to click that story.

I don’t think there’s necessarily a rule about income versus vehicles one “should” buy. I live and work in and around Silicon Valley and make a fairly healthy 6 figure income. I am surrounded by a vast sea of BMW’s, Mercedes, a few Lambroghinis and Ferarris, Porsches, and so on. Yet I drive a 24 year old Tacoma. It is

If you can’t afford to write it off completely right now, you can’t afford it.

Is it safe to assume that you are less than 25 years old?

Weird Flex, but OK.

I finally realized what this thing reminds me of:
