My 04 Passat 1.8t will straight up cut the throttle input if you’re on the gas and press the brake pedal for anything more than a heel-toe downshift (basically a couple seconds of brake pressure). I tried to brake boost it once on the highway ... the car behaved like the gas pedal didn’t even exist until I let go of…

I’ve watched a couple of things, and sometimes they have neat stuff, but the general approach of the “crew” + the unnecessary abuse of just about every car at the end is enough to put me off.

This was a fairly popular swap in e30 circles for a while (probably still is, but I haven’t been keeping up) with people using m30b35 out of an e32/e34 (3.5 liter, 210hp).

Their claim that they had no MT that could handle the torque always makes me laugh ... weren’t they at the same time making STI ... everything in Japan? I’m sure there was a trans that could have taken the 230 ft-lb or whatever the SVX was putting out. They just didn’t want to put one in ...

Sadly mine is at 183k and developed a bad 2nd gear synchro ... I’ve been nursing it with double-clutching and such for about the last 10k but I’m getting tired of doing it.
