Holy shit that’s infuriating. Whoever programmed the AI that reads the plate and let it read plates not on the car needs to be fired and never allowed to work in software again.
I don’t think the tech is quite ready yet on automated ticketing via camera, but I also suspect a large part of the reason you see “mistakes” like this is not a bad AUC but a financial incentive for algorithms to be biased towards false positives and away from false negatives.
