Depends on perspective, which is based on what you want out of a camera at that price point. The NEX is certainly better in megapixels and viewfinder. Bring a tripod, even a cheap one. Most of the best sunsets are in fact after the sun dips below the horizon. If there's some clouds, that will light up the sky in some spectacular colors. Here's my personal best: The light and color from the clouds is reflected in the water. It was shot about 10 minutes after sunset.
