I wasn't there or anything, but I think for many people at the time "punk" was as much or more about the scene, and what they were against, as it was a particular sound.

I didn't watch BB until after it had finished airing, and after hearing about that "one who knocks" speech, I was surprised at how un-badass he seemed while making it. He sounded like he was trying to convince himself that he was untouchable, and failing.

I mean, they're completely different types of shows, aren't they? BB was plot-driven, while BCS is more character-driven. If the latter's not for you, it's not for you. Doesn't make them bad people for not liking it.
Does make them wrong, however.

Politicians have always tried to spin, and people in potential trouble have always tried to parse words. Clinton was both, so nothing new there.
What's unique about Trump is just the constant string of blatantly false statements that are easily disproved, often for no real reason. It's pretty remarkable.

Maybe he was trying to say something like "she's the sort of girl I would have had a crush on when I was 11"? The "is absurdly alluring" is in the present tense, but "went for" is in the past tense. Anyway, ick.

Some libertarian types say voluntary charity is fine, while mandatory taxation to help others is basically theft. Not sure if she's trying to make that argument or not, and I'm not going to check.

My college baseball team won, so pretty good. I realize I'm pathetic, and I'm OK with that.

Recently rewatched The Third Man with my sorta-girlfriend, who loves old movies but hadn't seen that one. Hadn't seen it in years myself. So, so good. I could watch it again right now.

Damn, he's doing a new special already? Just in terms of material, the last one wasn't that long ago, and after what he's been through it just seems incredibly soon. But, as trite as it sounds, I guess it's helpful for him to work through those feelings onstage. I hope so, anyway.

I agree that he's probably not going anywhere (although at this point he almost seems to be actively trying to get impeached, so who knows). That's why I say that scrutiny of Trump's conflicts of interest going forward is probably more important than trying to overturn the results of the election.

From the outside, it certainly seems that some of Trump's flunkies (Flynn, Page, Manafort?) could be in real trouble. And the FBI, which knows more than we do, seems to think it's worthy of investigation. Not that I trust the FBI, but at this point, the public deserves an answer.

You would think that everyone would pretty much have their minds made up about Trump by this point. I feel like it would have to pretty much take smoking-gun proof that Trump himself (not just his lackeys) colluded with the Russians to move the public opinion needle in any meaningful way, and that just seems unlikely…

I really wish they gave me a little more lead time between the end of this show and the preview of next week. I'm often eating dinner or something, and I'll forget it's coming, and panic a little trying to change stations or mute it before realizing I should just immediately close my laptop.
