So far, I find it to be a beautiful wall of sound, an evening or late-night sort of record. I couldn't tell you what any of the songs are about, which is fine. But as someone who's listened to it more than I have, do you find the lyrics are worth parsing?

As I've mentioned around these parts before, I watched several episodes from the first season and liked it well enough. And I believe everyone who says it's great. But from everything I've heard, it gets pretty bleak and depressing, and I've had just about enough of that this year, thanks.

Outliers aside, I'd say the general consensus is that Stranger Things is a fun ride, albeit hardly groundbreaking and definitely not the best show of the year or anything. Thus, it is properly rated.

Exactly. I've yet to see Rectify or Halt and Catch Fire, for example. But rather than feeling guilty about it, I find it exciting that those shows are basically just sitting there, and I can pick them up at any time. Now if I could only decide which to watch next…
