Starter relay will handle 12V.
Conversion to 12V starter is not necessary. My CJ3B and my 6V tractors from the 1940's can start on 12V without modification the starter.

Anyone who hammers on the end of a wrench or ratchet to loosen a fastener is not allowed in my shop.
