Shut the fuck up Michał Nowakowski

This is a bad take, coming from someone who works in a parallel industry ( with many of the same production problems ) where my job is completely reliant year to year on viewer ratings and episode reviews. Awards like these do not effect the vast majority of the people who contribute to these things and most places

I’m not really one for these kinds of arguments. They assume status quo as an immutable baseline, when we know that A) these companies have spent the better part of the last few decades stacking things in their favor, and B) continue to do so.

Sorry but Demon’s Souls on PS5 sort of shatters this whole argument. As someone who’s had a PS4 Pro for a couple years, it’s absolutely mind-blowing. Youtube videos really don’t do any justice to the experience of playing a game with that level of detail and advanced lighting at a silky smooth 60fps. When I first

I don’t think any GMG website has ever claimed to be apolitical. Most of the writers are pretty upfront with their political viewpoints. And at the end of the day, almost all of the sites are focused on some aspect of culture, which is fundamentally inseparable from politics, as the two inevitably shape each other.

That’s not the vibe that I got from the end of the article at all. It was meant to reassure those who can’t necessarily afford one for various reasons that they don’t need to make further sacrifices to get one. It’s a wonderful product, sure, but as he said, it’s not going anywhere. If you are in a good enough

Incredibly poignant:

Hell yeah, free Full Spectrum Warrior! I really liked the demo...[checks notes] 16 years ago but never got around to playing the full thing.

I dont think its going to hurt the mainstream end user very much. Penetration rates of 4K TVs is still relatively mild, and actual 4k content is getting better but still relatively small comparatively. The average person who buys the yearly madden or call of duty digitally isn’t going to give enough of a shit about 4k

The purpose of the Series S is to make sure Xbox gains enough marketshare for developers to not be able to ignore it short of Sony throwing them buckets of money (something they can only do so many times before it’s cost prohibitive). There are very few crossplats that don’t target PC, and a game that has to target PC

Stuff like this is gonna hurt the Series S in the short term (at least in terms of which sells more, X or S) while it’s mostly hardcore early adopters who are buying these things but I think Phil Spencer is absolutely correct that the S will likely outsell the X. Mainstream consumers are more likely to just buy a

I mean, if they’ve got it running in one browser, they can get it running in all browsers. Just like Netflix lets you watch it in a browser or the app, no reason Microsoft couldn’t do the same here, just to give more options on more variations of hardware and situations.

No, no we haven’t.  I learned from Picross on Gameboy, but every game is someone’s first so of course, I mean of COURSE they need to have instructions for Picross.  I mean, it’s not exactly obvious.

You’re better off saying we already had PORTABLE versions of SNES games with the 3DS. Give us N64. Because, of course, N64 was done on wii, also...

It would! But for some reason the industry doesn’t seem to use the “2.5k” language. 2K is the slipperiest of PC resolutions and figuring out why 1440p is called 2K was tough to track down.

Allegedly, people were initially confused about the name 4k. That refers to resolutions having about 4000 horizontal pixels, but

Would that not be 2.5k? 1920x1080 makes the most sense as “2k” if 4k means 3840 x 2160.

1080 is 2K. 2048x1080. That naming convention was already being used in some industries but didn’t catch on with the general public until tv marketing people decided that 4K sounded a lot better than 2160p.

the Xbox Series S is reported to be $299. You know what’s also retailing for $299 right now? The Xbox One S”

Yes, but physical games are all “limited releases”. It makes no sense to stop selling a digital copy of the game.
