The point of a Slim model is the same as it always is, to streamline production and cut costs. No matter when you introduce a revision there’s always going to be that period where they still have old models they need to sell, but you also have to consider the people out there (like myself) who have been holding out

The rumor that’s been going around for awhile is that the new model allows for a disc drive add-on so they can streamline their production, doing away with 2 separate models and just having one that they can sell either with or without the drive. More likely than not, seeing as they just recently raised the price in

The entire point of the S is that it’s stripped down to the bare minimum to make it cheap. If you spend $300 an S and then, let’s be extremely generous here and say $50 on an external drive (it’d more likely be closer to $100) plus $130 for a 512GB SSD card to be able to store all those disc games…then you should

This would be great but wouldn’t that essentially be what they were proposing with the infamous DRM when the Xbox One was announced? The idea behind that was discs would be tied to your account, but there would be a limit on how many times the license could be transferred. The upside was that you wouldn’t need to have

What would be the point of that though? If you’ve gotta have a Series X so you can play a disc game on an S, then that’s just tying up the disc drive on the X. This would only benefit a tiny number of people and even then only in the specific circumstance that someone wants to play a disc game on an S while someone

Exactly, and they did those betas, but they called them “flights” instead because beta has lost its meaning at this point . This is 100% the full release just with a beta label stuck on it. This kind of thing really shows the power words can have over people, where they’ll defend to the death obvious marketing

Hutchinson claimed on Twitter (responding to former IGN and EA writer Mitch Dyer) that she is stuck in Mexico due to Covid.

Exactly this. People keep tripping over themselves to defend Nintendo here or try to make it out like this is no different than anything else they’ve done, but this is a $350 Switch in 2021, nearly 5 years after the original came out that is almost identical to the launch model.

You could argue that, although you can’t currently stream to consoles, and it’s also kind of the same as saying a game isn’t *really* exclusive if it comes to PC also. It’s technically true but besides the point. xCloud also only applies to GamePass games so stuff like Avatar and most other big third party games won't

It just doesn’t make any sense for a game set in the world of FF1 and possibly even supposed to be a retelling of that game’s story. I expect to see Black Mage’s in pointy hats, White Mage’s in robes etc. They don’t have to be carbon copies of those designs but at least give me something that looks like it was

Agree on everything except the bit about the launch lineup. As someone who opted to get a Series X first, I’m really looking forward to playing Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom when I eventually get a PS5. Add to that Miles Morales and other fun small games like Bugsnax, the PS5 launch lineup was better than most

OPM UK isn’t closing, they’re just changing the name to “Play” instead of shelling out for the PlayStation license. It’s still gonna be the same staff. As Chris Kohler said over on Twitter, it’s probably not a great sign that they can’t afford the license anymore, but they’ll still be around for the time being.

I really don’t understand why Sony hasn’t been more aggressive in getting better titles on PSNow. I’ve been a satisfied GamePass subscriber since March 2018 when they first started putting first party games in there and I’d estimate I’ve spent less than 10% of my total playtime on anything first party. The two biggest

You can already do this by launching any random game you have installed that you don’t normally play (which will put the game you want to suspend into quick resume) and then immediately quitting out of the newly launched game. It’s nice they’re adding a shortcut for this but I really wish they’d just not throttle your

That’s gonna happen anyway, but not for another few years, that’s the point. The Switch is doing extremely well and their software sales are strong, they sold 8 million+ copies of a few Mario ROMs they stuck on a cartridge. It doesn’t make sense for them to start over from scratch with a new console right now.

Yeah “pulling a WiiU” would mean keeping the system around way longer than it should have and never dropping the price once.

Are you kidding? Mario 64 came out at *$10* on Wii in 2006, 10 years after it came out on N64. Mario Galaxy was $20 on WiiU 8 years after it was on Wii. This should in no way be a full $60 release, it should have been $20-$30 tops, digital only. Throwing a 3 hour bonus mode in there doesn’t justify full price.

You probably heard that in regards to Super Mario Bros. 35 which is online only and will be unavailable to play at all after March 31.

Wow, the game came out 2 years ago and they’re just deciding now whether to fix it or not? By this point I’d think they’d be ready to release whatever they had been working on for the last 2 years. It seemed like people liked the way the game looked and felt, it wasn’t inherently broken, there just wasn’t enough to

I always found that frustrating too but at the same time... it’s been 6 years since then, have any games done loading screen mini games? You’d think twenty years of ideas that couldn’t be implemented would have ended up in every other game.
