Hopefully MS has got some big GamePass announcements cooking for launch. Sony is giving away the PS5 version of Bugsnax to PS Plus subscribers this month so MS needs something a little more exciting than these GwG offerings. I’ve literally never heard of the two XB1 games and I’m usually at least aware of most titles

Yeah $40 is pretty steep considering you're limited to playing the game with a fast internet connection. Plus, there is pretty much zero chance you'll maintain this license on future platforms. If I'm buying a license to a cloud game I'd expect it to be playable anywhere, not tied to one console.

Probably because it isn’t a first party title. It is pretty lame that this is being sold as a brand new game instead of just a patch though. They’re going the Persona 5 Royal route here, another questionable release which should have been available as an upgrade for P5 owners.

Studios want to sell copies first and foremost. If Series S ends up selling well and gets Xbox to selling 30+ million faster than PS5 you’ll see publishers lining up to support it. You can already see here that DMC5 is going to have ray-tracing support on the X , so the S is clearly not holding it back. The S versions

The SSD is one of the more expensive parts so it makes sense they’d go as cheap as possible there. Most people went through this entire generation with 500GB drives and games for the S are supposed to have smaller file sizes because they don’t need 4K assets (although I doubt most devs are going to support that).

There are references in the OS to a codename ”Edinburgh” which is what led to the third console rumors, but it was never confirmed. It’s also been speculated that it could be a final XB1 revision (like the 360 E that came out right before the original XB1 in 2013), or even Xbox VR (which there’s also been references

The WiiU wasn’t phased out after a couple years, it went nearly a full 5 years (the standard console generation for them) before the Switch came out. Nintendo never even did a price drop on it like they did when the 3DS bombed.

It shouldn’t aside from the first time. The cool thing is it’ll actually turn the Xbox on without lighting up the power button, so someone in the room with it won’t even know that it turned on.

The most crucial part of using console streaming or xCloud is to make sure you’re connecting to the 5GHz band on your router and not 2.4GHz. If you’re using 2.4 it’s gonna be a mess no matter how fast your connection is. It’s night and day between the two. For whatever reason xCloud still works better for me than

Phil Spencer has already said he would like to see GamePass on PS and Switch. It isn’t up to him though and Sony and Nintendo don’t seem to keen on it. A browser based solution could potentially trojan horse it onto PlayStation at least. Switch still doesn't even have Netflix yet lol.

“the latest Steam game from Massive Damage”

Picross 3D is awesome but I don’t know how well it would work on Switch. It really needs a stylus and the Switch isn’t ideal for being held with one hand, even with the Joycons removed. I'd still love to see it though.

I feel like I saw a meme a few years ago that joked about people being blown away they had the name wrong all this time. It's like a minor Mandela-effect thing.

Very informative comment! I’ve only ever heard 2K referred to as retroactive shorthand for 1080p (and it’s what makes the most sense) but I also don’t do much in the way of PC gaming outside of VR so I wasn’t aware that there are actually companies marketing higher resolutions as 2K.

Yeah as a big VR fan I’m hoping whatever Sony ends up doing next makes a big splash.  I ended up selling my PSVR a month ago because it’s pretty clear they’ve given up on it for this gen but if they follow through with what they’ve talked about for PSVR2 it should be incredible.

I worked at the GameStop that had the highest number of pre-orders for the original DS in the country (at least that’s what we were told at the time by our DM). It was a pretty affluent area filled with young kids and I used to hear Game Boy DS and (my favorite!) Playboy SD all the time. Parents never know the names

I really think this issue is being overblown. The Nintendo DS/3DS has had a dozen + revisions/models over the years (DSi, Lite, XL, 3DS, 2DS(!) etc. etc.) and managed to come out alright. This holiday there are only going to be 3 Xbox models: Series X and S, and One S. The original Xbox One, One X and One S All

The big question there though is, how much is a 1TB cartridge going to cost? If you’re buying the S because it’s $300, you’re not going to want to spend $100-$150 just for extra storage. At that point you may as well get the X or even a PS5 Digital.

This is definitely the biggest sticking point with this console but if they have separate 4K assets like they did for One X enhanced titles then Series S downloads should be significantly smaller than Series X.

It’s not really between a One S and a One X because that suggests it’s less powerful than the One X. It’s way more capable in pretty much every regard, it just isn’t intended for 4K like the One X was, so it can get away with a slightly weaker GPU. The One X isn’t going to be playing next-gen games with hardware
