Update: The CA DMV site shows that the number checks out to a ‘70 280SEL. Something ain’t right.

355 AWG would have been a Northern CA-issued plate from 1970, so those are purely decorative (or borrowed from one of the owner’s other cars. No smog record on the number, of course. DMV site checks out the number as issued to a ‘70 280 SEL.
