Fascinating to see how this has already altered the media narrative in exactly the way the palace will have wanted... now, of course, anyone who ever questioned the official story (and its terribly staged and/or photoshopped images) is clearly a heartless, uncaring individual because this poor woman has cancer, how

clamoring for details about a stranger’s private life”

Apparently she was already working for him when they started dating, so show-biz-has-different-HR-policies-than-most-of-corporate-America discourse might be more germane.

You are unbearably naïve.”

This performance was so memorable. I think it will be talked about for years. It was so fun to watch. Great job to all the Kens involved!

The electoral college is the only thing that gives the Republicans hope they can get back into the White House. They haven’t won the popular vote since 2004. And they probably wouldn’t have won that one if it wasn’t for the Iraq war mongering assholes scaring the shit out of everyone, and that John Kerry was not a

Sure but just vote Biden in November and you won’t have to actually worry about any of this.

Like so, so many other aspects of our continually adapted constitution, the electoral college made a lot more sense 234 yrs ago. Much like the ‘sacred’, outdated 2nd amendment.   https://www.archives.gov/electoral-college/history

I really liked the new acting awards format, at least when the presenters seemed to care. The whole group for supporting actress gave such beautiful, personal tributes, and it was really lovely. The best actress bunch, on the other hand, felt stiff and not at all connected.

The best moment of the Oscars was John Mulaney recapping Field of Dreams. Is that even in dispute?

I can take or leave the format where past winners gush about current nominees, but I do wish they would show clips of the nominated performances. If the whole point is to celebrate the movies, let’s see some movies!

The author’s pissy attitude about a joke about Killers of the Flower Moon being long is dumb and self-defeating. Particularly his grouchiness that we need to devote more time to movies about the “long, painful trail of genocide that runs throughout the world.”

They’re not ready now because they were ready five years ago?

You know Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite (2019) won Oscar Best Picture, right?

And yet it was nominated for Sound, traditionally the worst technical aspect of a Nolan film.

They could have mentioned that Cillian Murphy also tried to kill Batman.

Did you actually see Poor Things or read the book? It’s hardly “weird sex stuff” unless you’re some kind of puritan.

And a massive “Fuck you” to everyone lying that Glazer was “refuting his Jewishness” by cutting off the second half of his sentence.

Surprisingly okay show. The presenters’ jokes were mostly decent, and they really let the winners’ speeches get their time (after last year’s criticisms). Nearly all the predictions were accurate, but when that’s a good thing, since the right films were winning, imo. Gladstone’s loss was the one surprise, but as much

There’s no such thing as being cheated. Award shows are just popularity contests, and one is no better or worse than the rest. Its like asking “what’s better, Niagara Falls or the Gand Canyon.” It’s just a choice, there is no right or wrong answer.
