I agree. Trump won in 2016 because a contingent of voters who fancied themselves left-leaning independents were upset - rightfully or not - about Hillary Clinton getting the nom over Sanders. Clinton to them embodied the Washington insider elite they despised, and they saw the process as rigged. They weren’t voting…
Poll numbers aren’t that bad all of them have basically 10% of voters undecided and I’m incredibly skeptical that they’ll break for Trump. Those are voters who don’t like Biden but absolutely hate Trump and will suck it up when it actually comes down to it.
Also, Trump helps Kevin immediately, with no questions asked. He knows who Kevin is.
Eh, they’re the kind of idiots who would try to knock off a capo because they’re so low level they don’t even know who they’re ripping off, until they find themselves hogtied in warehouse, about to be made examples of.
This is my favorite theory, that the McCallisters are in with the mob. I like the idea that Kevin’s dad is a mob lawyer, and his unseen brother who has homes in Paris and NYC launders their money.
From Wizard of Oz to Jaws, the history of Hollywood is filled with productions in turmoil that turned out brilliantly. Panic Room, BTTF and Apocalypse now all had recastings happen after they were already filming.
Harry & Marv ain’t the brightest bulbs on the ol’ menorah, let’s be real. It might’ve been a score too big to pass up, or maybe they didn’t know they were hitting someone up the chain.
Counterpoint:
I mean, it makes sense:
I don’t want to ruin your childhood, but Ferris Buehler and Joel Goodsrn also lived in that area and obviously were sons of very wealthy families.
Legally speaking, the two would-be burglars could sue the family for gazillions of dollars after all the pain and suffering they went through. Maybe that was their plan all along?
Mom was definitely employed because the first part of the movie she’s wearing a power suit and she’s the one who pays the pizza delivery boy $120 + tip
The McAllister’s definitely had some generational wealth helping them out. I doubt that house was entirely paid for by whatever job the dad had.
I think the McCallisters were always intended to be upper-upper-middle-class, but we as a society were much less class conscious in 1990, so this element of the story received almost no attention at the time.
Every time this comes up I like to point out that Joey and Chandler’s apartment was not that nice. It was about half the size of Monica’s. No terrace. While Monica’s apartment faced the street Joey was singing duets with a guy next door because their windows were like two feet apart. Whenever they showed one of the…
wait what
Yep, that how actors work, they play multiple roles in different movies :)
Monica is illegally subletting from her grandma or aunt or something. Chanlder makes a lot of money. And I assume Ross did too.
Having so much money allows Kevin’s family to be the absolute worst to him emotionally and abandon him multiple times.
