I don’t know if it’s ghoulish, but I just don’t see the point of it, certainly not spending TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for the “privilege” (literally, you’re fucking privileged if you can spend that much money on this).

One thing not discussed is that the US Navy has cold war era acoustic listening posts networked across the Atlantic to detect Orc submarines. They would have detected the implosion when it happened.

I hate the idea of anybody spending four days waiting to die and probably running out of food and water while being stuck in a tiny tube. I sincerely hope it was a much quicker and much more forgiving departure.

Live, Laugh, Implode

As Robot Turds got there before me, the simple fact is that there aren’t bodies to recover.

He was also pretty efficient at dodging journalists’ questions regarding body recovery. In response to a question about the casualties, Mauger insisted its a dicy environment.

If there’s one silver lining, it’s that an implosion would have been a quick death and they wouldn’t have suffered like they would if they suffocated.

I was an aviation safety manager for a number of years and reading the guy’s philosophy tells me all I need to know about this “when not if” incident.

The dealer will charge more when you buy one new because it is a “limited color” then offer you less when you trade one it because the color is “hard to sell”.

JFC. Woman involved in likely attempted kidnapping and the company supposedly in charge of keeping her safe bans her and says nothing of the alleged would-be kidnapper, and your response is: “meh” and try another company already known to have safety issues.

“If a thing was different, it would be different”

Since they can’t open the sub from the inside, even if they surfaced there’s a time limit for the rescue. Since communication seems to be lost, I don’t know how feasible it is to find them before the deadline.

‘You Only Sink Twice’, screenplay excerpt:

Anyone else feel like owning some Russian Oligarch’s toy that he probably feels was taken from him unfairly is...not a great idea?

Everyone’s focusing on all kinds of random details (“controller! elevator! funny brass valves!”) when this big guy is in the room trumpeting and waving his tusks:

You forgot the never dying Elio Motors. They’re going EV now according to their website.

You might as well be on the moon. They’re toast.

I mean, OK, but where do you draw the line?  Are you not a fan of government spending tax dollars rescuing a group of middle class hikers that get lost in the mountains?

I think the only hope is that they somehow managed to resurface and are waiting to be found.  Still - how horrible would it be to suffocate to death, on the surface, because while you can see the surface of the ocean outside of the sub you can’t get the hatch open (evidently it’s designed so it can only be opened from

There is NO rescue at these depths. The fallacy of hope in this case is pretty foolish.
