I agree with you on all of this. I don’t see how the judge could have come to a “Guilty” verdict based on what was presented at trial. But NOT because I think Ghomeshi didn’t do it, but because I think the Crown fucked up terribly and basically handed the whole thing over to the defense by not preparing their

Yeah :( I just edited my response to say basically the same thing. I 100% believe Ghomeshi did it, but I think the judge’s decision was the right one, legally, because the prosecutors fucked this one up so badly.

I went and read the actual decision linked in the article and it might make you feel a bit better to know that that quote is actually taken pretty badly out of context. While I still think the judge is totally wrong, he actually is very clear to qualify his statement. The full paragraph is:

As much as the judge’s other statements are atrocious (especially the one about the “stereotype” of sexual assaults being truthful, which, uggggggghhhhhhhhh), the reasonable doubt one is a fair statement of law and the way that criminal trials should operate. If you think it’s very likely the defendant is guilty but

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

GOOD.

told the judge that he was meeting with attorneys and conducting research for his online college courses, both of which required traveling to Boston

Asshole be stupid. Good for the judge. He should have paid attention to the terms of bail, which everyone knows anyway. You can’t leave. Period.

I, also, did not see the message and automatically think it meant rape.

Huh. I read it completely differently. I read it as don’t let someone bully you into doing something you aren’t sure about. If you want to say no to the D, then for gosh sakes, say no.

Or maybe they believe their friend isn’t guilty. It’s so bizarre that people are now trying to attack people for believing their friends.

Can the hottie reporter play himself?

Armchair diagnosis is dumb on like a dozen different levels I could name without taking a beat, but what I find most interesting is how quick people jumped to mental illness here when sometimes people are just egotistical assholes (I guess that’s a reflection of the destigmatization of discussing mental illness, if

C’mon Maddie, I’m a big boy and can manage two contrary emotions at once. Creed was a shitty band. I wish Scott Stapp the best in dealing with his addiction and mental illness.

I mean, One of the women admitted to misleading the police during the trial, and the communications between the accusers and Jian is pretty damning.

It’s called a cross examination. All three accusers had serious problems in their testimony.

In my amateur opinion, there is zero chance he is convicted. The stories of the accusers were full of holes.

I hope many, many people “just feel moved” to go to her office- a public location- and tell her so.
