The story I recall is a woman who finally got tired of the false positives and demanded a test to prove that, yes, she is capable of blowing above the legal limit without ever having had a drink.

I saw a 60 Minutes (or something) ep where this almost ruined a guy’s life.

The reality is the amount of damage is minimal. Most people that run their cars to the bottom on the regular will be driving them long after 100k miles and it’s not gonna make a huge difference. People treat their cars like garbage and don’t change or check oil levels, never change air filters, coolant and

Yep, pretty much.  Theoretically if you were flooring your car at the very moment you ran out of fuel you could run into a detonation/lean condition scenario at high cylinder pressures and burn a valve or piston, but my guess would be most people aren’t running out of fuel on the drag strip.

I remember being told back in the 80's that if your car has fuel injection instead of carburetors, that running out of fuel can cause the fuel pump to suck up sludge from the bottom of the fuel tank which will then damage the fuel injector nozzles, which cost more to replace than your car is worth.

He seems to be having this tremendous difficulty with his lifestyle.

Can we stop posting videos from this guy? On his best days he’s just regurgitating information that someone else probably explained better elsewhere, and more often than is acceptable, he’s oversimplifying or flat out wrong about something.

What actually counters your argument is the fact that it’s a specious argument. Running straight out of fuel may be potentially harmful, but it isn’t likely to be, and running low is not harmful all. It’s just old wives tales and bad youtube videos from people who make bullshit for clicks.

Again I ask this question.

Ugh, not this guy again...

The headline suggests that running out of fuel can cause engine damage, but when we get down to it that damage is actually rare and pretty much not likely to happen. You risk fuel pump damage more.

What is the point of this guy/video and why are we trying to get him views/clicks?

Can’t watch video at work, but based on this rather breezy encapsulation it appears they didn’t touch on the fun of direct injection engines with high pressure fuel pumps?

How on earth did you just breeze right past the Sir Mix-a-Lot reference? Ken Tremendous is rolling over in his proverbial grave.

Indeed, I also interact with many female persons and can share my observations gleaned from many long conversations, or as female persons call them in their quaint dialect: “creepy stare downs”

TL:DR

What the hell is a female person, you Male people?

IDK about little league but my daughter has one for playing hockey but its not exactly the same as a cup for obvious reasons.

Who knows what goes on in Georgia... I coached Little League for a number of years, had my fair share of girls on my teams. It was never an issue, and I never had an umpire who injected himself into this. I would be a bit creepy of the umpire to do a cup check. I told all the boys and their parents that they needed
