It’s this - the FMVSS.

I am definitely too stupid to own a gun.
My favorite take on this event was
“there’s nothing more shocking to a Republican than a Prius owner with a gun.
“1000% guaranteed he doesn’t do that if he’s not carrying”
I didn’t imply that he had nefarious intentions; I implied that -to her- he had nefarious intentions, and that if she were forced to defend herself for killing him in a court of law, that she would likely have no problem convincing a jury that she felt threatened, which is all that she needs to prove in a SYG case.
You’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s shit all around, but without the guns the woman and her baby would still be alive.
Yep - that was covered by another commenter; as I said to him, though, what went down legally isn’t the same as what went down culturally.
I don’t disagree with most of this, I guess in my ideal world nobody had a gun.
Fair - and thank you for the correction; now that you say that I remember that not being the defense. So the point of it being a “precedent” is wrong from a legal sense, but I’m pretty sure that case set the precedent culturally that it’s fine in Florida to follow someone into the street and shoot them if you feel…
Very likely the case that she was breaking the law - I’m not a lawyer!
I’m not intimately familiar with the event beyond just being sad that it happened at all - but the point is, people get the idea that such a thing is legal when the law gets set up and dipshits like Desantis boast about FREEDUMS TO PROTECT YERSELF,…
“Stand your ground doesn’t mean you automatically win. It also doesn’t give you cart blanch to do whatever you want and shoot your way out of it.”
No, absolutely he’s not; more wanted to point out that this kind of event is the bullshit that’s empowered by “stand your ground” laws.
The incident in question:
I spent last summer driving around the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming. Breathtaking. And plenty further west to go too; wanna hit Idaho this year.
It’s equal parts that I don’t agree that “the best road is the road that gets me the fuck out of here”, and someone else’s comment that maybe the article should be “why I love the NJ Turnpike”
You ever see a take that’s just so insane, so completely removed from reality that you’re almost completely dumbfounded and unable to respond?
Bought a year’s worth of Game Pass Ultimate haha! Something like $5.80 month.
