@awjvail001: My 84 Civic had... NO cupholders. You could get a grippy insert for the flat section of the dash, or conical travel mugs with the same grippy stuff on the bottom. Or you GOT OUT of the car occasionally to drink.

From the side the middle and front look like a BMW 7 series; the rear looks familiar but what? (nicer than the Porsche Panamera). That's a really long wheelbase! #bugatti

@KNaudi: Oh yes I have, meanwhile you're regurgitating stuff you've heard that sounds right to you. There are no "hidden costs" of producing hybrids beyond the additional weight penalty which for well-engineered hybrids is more than repaid in increased fuel efficiency.

@zeeboid: people get paid what their worth. If a executive is worth 30 million a year, I have absolutly no problem with that.

@KNaudi: How exactly is a reliable practical mid-size appliancemobile that gets 50 mpg a "marketing gimmick"? #wiredautopia

@Paul Y. don't drive too fast.: My solar hot water heating fiasco flows to THREE 50 gallon tanks, plus a fourth 45-gallon tank for radiant heat backup that I've never comprehended. The mechanicals took 3x more space than they were supposed to, the heat exchange for radiant house heating has never worked (though I

Does the 3 series collect a fee for all subsequent "mascara in the corner" headlamp treatments? #buickregal

@Ben Wojdyla: Can you get the Gawker hamsters to fix commenting so that replying to a poor comment doesn't automatically promote it? "Ben Wojdyla promoted this comment" wasn't your intent there.

Just restrict the drive-through lane to cars with a stop-start feature, hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles. It's in the bible - "Idling cars are the devil's playthings"!

What's the black tongue poking out of the front of the car in picture #8? It looks like a black stretcher board for carrying an injured passenger from the (upcoming) wreck. #koenigseggccxr

@Joe Zydeco: Oh noooooo, really? The Stern CSI pinball machine is "Designed by Pat Lawlor Design and Stern Pinball" and Steve Ritchie's site claims he designed "Avatar (2008) ". #digitalpinball

Bangle design didn't make sense of the 5-series rear, but the E60 headlamp area is sublime. The way the horizontal hood slice forms the eyebrow and the LEDs set into it, the way the headlamp edge cuts across to flow into the hood edge crease... It's stunning in 2D and liquid perfection in the flesh.

@makopolo: We do more for the environment keeping vehicles running longer than building new "more efficient" ones. #chryslerenvi

The New York Times is reporting on New Geography's ideas. That talks about other kinds of urban renewal, you should read it sometime.

@duurtlang: According to WhatGreenCar, the VW Polo 1.4 TDI Bluemotion +DPF gets 74.3 Imperial mpg (combined) or 3.8 litre/100km on the Euro combined cycle. That's only 1.9 mpg more than the Prius 72.4 Imperial mpg or 3.9 litre/100km, which is a big powerful car by comparison and still emits less CO2.

@torreys71004: None of what you say refutes what I said. This was a stimulus program that increased the fuel efficiency of the US auto fleet. Give us your better proposal. A gas tax would get people driving less (I support one phased in over a long period), but is probably not a good idea in an economic downturn. #
