The problem with those rankings is the fact they are an average of 50 states with very different educational systems. The best states rank among the best countries in the world, while the worst states (e.g., Mississippi) won’t even break the top 100.

It has to work that way because otherwise if the FBI caught you burning all the evidence, they’d have to just let you go. We can’t prove a crime was committed since you destroyed the evidence, and destroying the evidence is totally ok as long as we can’t prove a crime was committed.

I think it gets the very concept of selfishness wrong. Selfishness implies you are keeping or taking something for yourself that should rightly belong to or be shared with someone else. You can’t be selfish towards hypothetical children.
