YMMV but a gun nut, IMO, would be just as you describe: basically a person who’s personality, hobbies, political opinions, etc. center around guns and nothing else (or guns are primary in those areas). Simply owning a gun doesn’t even come close to that level

Point of order: There’s a massive gulf between “gun owner” and “gun nut”

And it would be a lot more common for sex workers to report suspected trafficking if they weren’t afraid of being arrested themselves by going to the authorities
