As far as I can tell the CW considers African Americans the only minority race. Asians, Native Americans and Latino people are just for stereotypes and windowdressing.

I don’t disagree, but its a major issue with the genre as a whole.

Really, the internet hive mind only has itself to blame. There is a deep rooted trend on social media where anything that isn’t conforming to every single individuals needs and sensitivity gets decried.

Like many things now, when the official channels fail to appease, internet justice is the next step.

Pretty much. Unless it’s about martial arts, cos according to io9 only Asians should be cast for roles involving marital arts.

I’m getting so fed up with white PC outrage on my behalf. Maybe this can be added to the list of white things that annoy Asians.

io9 seem to think all martial arts are the same and that there is one generic asian race.

As a Westernised Asian, I find it quite insulting and a little bit of racist at the suggestion that a kung fu superhero should be Asian. I thought we were past this stereotype, and lets be clear it is a stereotype, no matter what you, a white person, wants to call it.
