A judge here in Sonoma County CA not only got a DUI, but also told the police that she had been in the back seat (of her two-seat Porsche, natch) and that they ought to bend the rules for her because she bent the rules for them when they were in her court.  She was allowed to finish out her term and retire.

Nah, law degrees and heavy drinking pretty much go hand in hand. The difference is judges will either booze it up at private clubs or at home, so nobody outside their circle ever sees it.

Thank you for sticking with us, and you too. I agree that PRACHI RULES

Also, most people go to college at the prime point in their life where their body is ready and willing to bounce back from anything. Even if you never drank or did drugs—I did little of the former and none of the latter—practically anyone could stay up all night working or doing schoolwork and rock a test the next

You too, Jez staff!

I went to Cornell around the turn of the ‘00s. I knew dozens, if not hundreds, of dudes like Kavanaugh, mostly in frats. They drank hard, and they treated women like shit.

Don’t let me get started on his decision to boldly proclaimed conspiracies about liberals and Democrats during his testimony.

Christ, that’s good. That’s really the unspoken crux of this whole thing. He’s angry that he’s not getting away with everything he’s supposed to be allowed to get away with.

It’s telling that the sex crimes prosecutor all but called for a proper FBI investigation. The person they hired to cower behind had openly called bullshit on this whole farce.

This is all giving me horrible anxiety and yet I can’t stop listening to/reading the livestreams.

If Kavanaugh can be brought down, they all can. Many of them went to top schools, had extra-curricular activities, love their friends, and have people who like them. They have knit themselves into the fabric of power from their youth and with it has come expectations of immunity.

I want to think the GOP lost the Senate today.

I am kind of loving Booker right now.

oh no it isn’t just you

Yeah, sounds like the level-headed temperament of a Supreme Court Justice.

My stepfather was the same. Either didn’t talk much at all or was screaming at people. A damn mean drunk.

The attack on the Clintons on “the left” is so fucking bizarre for SC nominee!

I could definitely see him as the “see what you made me do?!” type.

Omg yes. If there is anything I learned from Pretty in Pink and 16 Candles it’s that rich white assholes protect other rich white assholes.

Interesting that he cited Animal House, which has a very graphic scene where a frat guy debates whether to rape a passed out underage girl before dumping her on her parents’ doorstep in a shopping cart, all played for big big laughs.
