Guardian has been killing it lately, and we should talk about it

Yaaaassss

Yasss. Giving birth to a Vogue-Off is no small feat.

Yep. THIS.

My comparison to VS is really about that, no? Euginides found a way to actually make some of the characters come alive, etc while still highlighting how the opinion of the boys isn't really out of love for the girls.

in Virgin Suicides, bunch of boys fixate on these bunch of sisters in the whole MPDG way. One of the dudes gets to bone one of the sisters, mystery = solved, he's no longer interested in her. Kind of explores how empty his admiration for her was, and how horrible for her.

Hence the comparison to VS, which is the same. I understood that, but the journey to get to that part was really not redeemable

Which is why the comparison to Virgin Suicides, I got that part, but it was not well done at all. Maybe bc I read his other book, and it was literally the same character arc. Ugh.

kinja's being a dickwad today

the book is like 100 times worse, and not in a self aware way

John Green's books get on my nerves. I read Paper Towns, and yes, the female character Margo is basically an empty character. Mostly, she is about the male protagonist & how he wants her, how her 'free' & 'troubled' character draws him in, how her rejection gives him sad feels, how her 'troubled' actions cart him

whatever

fuck you

GOOD

Sweatpants >>>> most men alive

GOOD

Seriously. I loved her in American Hustle, but overall I find both of them to be quite overrated

Serena was horrible. I can't believe I wasted precious dollars on that pile of shit.

PERFECT.

you know what, we should just pick out the nominees & let them have it out Hunger Games style
