shailene
or idk, try teaching girls that they shouldn't give a fuck about High School Bro Boners?
yep
It's weird hearing about Jay-Z being considered not 'real' because now there are so many people (who probably only heard like Blueprint 3) reading Pitchfork and generally accepting that Jay-Z is rap royalty and has always been.
I feel that as rap is becoming more mainstream, there are not only hip hop purists being dicks, but rock dads who are outraged that hip-hop or its subsets are becoming the "new rock" and who keep talking shit about a genre they literally know nothing about. I mean, how many assholes do you see saying shit like "UGH…
Not just R&B though, now, is it? EDM, trap, autotune
You know the conversation happening around Drake's R&B based rap right? I've seen many people comment on how it's the new direction of rap, as opposed to hard rapping. Or people going on videos of kids like Rae Sremmurd and being like "Rap is dead" or like "This is where rap is heading"
I'm gonna have to listen to the entire album, and I will check out Blu.
also, I feel like Jay-Z is talking more about the content of the lyrics rather than the direction of rap itself? Like the whole "Money, Cash, Hoes" thing? Now the whole discussion is directed towards the rap-R&B shtick, you know?
I don't know - I feel like people listen to Drake's album or some trap album by a black kid & be like "Rap's dead!!!1!"
Not aware of Blu but Idk man, I loved Good Kid more than Cilvia Demo. Oddisee - I just heard one mix tape & I agree, it was pretty good. I think GKMC was like a really cinematic album - grander in scope and more memorable.
Ugh. It's not "straw man shit"
perhaps I should've been clear - millennial born rappers or rappers who've debuted in the '00s & forward. the artists (as far as my knowledge goes, have been making music since the late 80's or the early 90's
They're about different things.
I think we'll just have to wait it out to see about how relevant it will be in the future.
his face is Concentrated Basic White Bro.
It's the "good guy" shtick.
I agree with you on some parts. Yes, Kendrick is possibly the best lyricist of this generation.
a. Elgort, pls stfu. No one gives a fuck about your boner.
