FWIW, this isn’t a new strategy. I’ve seen plenty of Georgia lawyers file this type of motion where they intend to pursue a defense of justification.

im fine with that. only if they’re called “racist fucking murderers.”

This is going to appeal regardless.

So, the defendants’ racism runs deep into their defense. Deny Arbery’s victimhood; the next step, since there must be a victim if a crime was committed (it ain’t the State!), will be to claim the defendants victims. If this ruling goes through, remember my words (I can’t believe it will actually go through).

This seems like a low-effort attempt to poison the local pools and make seating a jury hard, if not impossible and setting up an appeal. It’s heartless and completely within character for a criminal defense attorney who knows damned well that even their fellow racists will find these two waste of skins guilty, because

The other key ingredient to WS that goes well with deflection, “deny”. Deny black folks of any humanity. Deny them from exposing the fact that we are indeed victims of the continuous attempts to wipe us out and/or send us back a few centuries.

So their defense strategy is a “greatest hits” of every single method of dehumanizing Black folks this country has ever pioneered.

Oh, those were the good old days. But it’s much more difficult for workers to unite to fight a common enemy today because most of the marginalized and disenfranchised people have sipped some of the ‘caste’ Kool-Aid. So, while we fight amongst ourselves, as choregraphed by the rich white folks, we remain divided.

Always use the passive tense when trying to evade accountability.

I’m still pissed the hotel said “more could have been done to deescalate”.  Yeah, like *anything at all*.

I’d also like a word with the hotel manager who took “her side”, uncorroborated, against the hotel’s own customers.

The thing is. Unless you are a 100% WASP, there was a point in US history where you were treated like shit. The Italians, Irish, Poles and Germans all had a small taste of the whole “You are a dirt immigrant” bullshit. Of course most of that died out a hundred years ago.

For the folks raging in my replies (you were all dismissed (◡‿◡✿)) about Italians being discriminated against in America: that’s the point, you dummies. My use of the word “adjacent” is referring to the not too distant past where Italians fought to access whiteness in America.

If it had been a white lady tackled by a black man, he would have gotten at least 20 years in prison.

“Of course I worry. That’s not who I am. I actually...try very hard to make sure that I am always doing the right thing.”

It isn’t who I am either.

And over a damned phone too. Look, I know phones are costly, but that’s why you shell out the extra few bucks a month for the insurance that covers loss or theft or whatnot. If you are at all aware, you have a passcode, your phone regularly saves to the cloud, so when shit -does- happen, you go to the nearest carrier

It isn’t who I am either.

“And of course, Ponsetto would like the world to know that she isn’t the monster the video clearly shows her being.“

Nah, you’re a monster, lady. That was your whole ass you showed in that video. It’s sweet of you to go through the motions, but let’s be real.
