I’m really not sure that this kind of thing works the same way on film as in comics. The differences in media are substantial and meaningful. Will audiences accept recasting as easily as readers accept new artists, for instance?
Well, the classic arched fingers so that only the pads touch would have been perfect, but you did damn good winging it in an instant here!
You’re dead on!
Isn’t that guy due for a heart attack or something?
Eon has made 24 Bond films so far, but several have been duds with critics and fans. It’s taken them 55 years, which isn’t a great rate but holds the record for franchise longevity.
OooooOOooo... that’s kind of interesting.
That would solve the problem of Tony’s story arc, but not of RDJ aging. I think it’s better and more likely to keep him around in VO only, like Jarvis and Friday.
This is cute and fun, but illustrates the problem with everything being in canon. Rey has no reason to be so attached to BB8 at this point, so her reactions are way out of scale. She’s also shown doing some pretty remarkable stuff like jumping 20', effortless catching and holding a flying droid that must weigh over…
Stop kidnapping journalists, you thug!
My point was more that time moves on.
If Peter ends up a captain of industry in the MCU, that’s still decades off. And I think (hope) that Homecoming will end with him claiming independence as his own person.
MovieBob’s McGuire concept was kinda cool until he had to deal with the Battle of New York. In the end, it’s going to be a lot better to have a fresh slate, and the retcons would have been a gargantuan weight that only a true comics nerd could accept.
Fair- but the record is still pretty astounding.
Good point about Hippolyta, but all the other Amazons were put on the island- their aging could have stopped at that point.
Are you the only one? You’re replying to someone who said much the same thing.
Don’t worry- he’ll be back for VO work ;^)
Yeah- I can’t think of any other movie studio with a track record like that. Disney maybe?
You also have to wonder where else Tony has to go as a character. If he keeps on too much longer it’s just going to be flapping his arms around ineffectually- creating new threats, atoning, constantly trying to get it right. As realistic and true to life as that is, it’s just too gritty and grounded for me.
