Another relevant quote is JBS Haldane: “the universe is not only queerer than we suppose, it is queerer than we can suppose.”

Well, you have to admit, it’s hard for us to conceive of, say, four dimensions, or to grasp that the Planck length is to a millimeter as a millimeter is to the size of the universe. To us, anything smaller than we can see seems (at least to me) equally small. I can comprehend the evidence, but I can’t intuit it. I…
“I’ve always held”? Can you post your equations here, please, or are you just talking out of your ass?
LIGO has indeed captured the evidence of something slamming into a black hole at nearly the speed of light — another black hole. Two such events already.
Remember the days when we exterminated the American Indians? You and I are responsible, right, because it’s impossible for people to change from one generation to the next, right? I’m not pro-church, I’m just not ignorant of the last 500 years of history.
As somebody who’s argued with flat earthers for years, I can state unequivocally that the vast majority are white males, conspiracy nuts generally. They also believe in chemtrails, 9/11 and Sandy Hook as government organized, etc.
Jesuits, anti-science? Lemaitre would like to have a word with you...
Their condemnation of contraception is not pro- or anti-science. I say this not as a supporter of it, merely somebody who knows the facts, regrettable as they are.
Lol. Shut the fuck up, Donny.
Obama never let doing the right thing stand in the way of his dignity.
Yeah, so many people beat that drum. You realize Trump’s America believes burning coal equals freedom, right? Nobody is backing the Paris Accords to get on the right side of the electorate. Jesus.
Wasn’t he on record, decades ago, believing warming was real? Maybe I dreamed it.
What this is really about is burying the infamous Senate torture report.
Who, exactly, is romantic about the Victorian era? Are the kids swooning over bustles and flat caps, horse manure and knee-deep in the London mire? Is there a new Showtime series I haven’t heard about?
Um, no literate person would ever romanticize the Victorian era. Where do you read such things?
Yeah, those Dickens novels really sparkled, huh?
“Absolute Ass: the latest fragrance from Ivanka Trump...”
Um, hey man, the country just elected a president based on his promise to dig and burn zillions of tons of coal. I don’t think it’s necessarily good for corporate PR to plump for the Paris Accords. It’s actually possible that some people understand cause and effect. Just not you.
The US military also supported the Paris Accords. What’s their “angle?” It’s funny how you think nobody would ever put their continued existence ahead of slightly more profits today. Notice that it’s not every corporation in the US that’s opposed to Trump’s action. Just the progressive ones.
The fact is, Trump backed out because it’s good for energy companies, end of story. It’s not a principled stance, and it doesn’t improve our stance on the reality of climate change. Furthermore, asking corporations to do shit voluntarily has never, ever, worked.
