As far as the PC beep, most motherboards have a slot for you to install a mini-speaker for the beep. I just built a rig a couple of months ago and the motherboard came with a speaker for the beep. I guess it all depends on the motherboard you buy.

So what's the replay value with this game? I'm considering either picking up Resistance or this, despite the awful reviews for Resistance. I deeply appreciate single-player games with a deep, involving storyline (such as the Uncharted series), but at the same time I can't see buying a game like this brand new before…

That's always been one of my development dreams; to make a island survival game (that IS NOT zombie based). I remember owning a game on my DS that was somewhat like this, but it was very kiddy-ish and not very simulation-based).
