Someone made a hilarious edit to the “roughing the passer” Wikipedia page (screenshot because I’m sure it’ll get edited in a sec):

“In the NFL, roughing the passer occurs when a defensive player touches the quarterback without first laying down a mattress for the quarterback to fall on to prevent injury.”

I actually hope so, given the NFL’s refusal to make real changes for player safety, or offer real money for players injured, but I’m doubtful if there is, that the players can keep it together long enough to get real changes.

In another universe, practices increase player safety by ensuring the players are properly conditioned and can read plays to anticipate what’s happening and then use their body intelligently to do what it is they want to do.

Sure, you could say that about the owners box at a Skins game, so it’s really 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I thought it was a weird statement, too, on the other hand, you have to wonder how pedantic Musk was being.

Yeah, that definitely doesn’t track with Tesla, since they’ve always been so good with meeting deadlines and haven’t tried doing something crazy that not even GM would try, like making their own seats or anything.

As a Bears fan, I’m glad to see it’s not just our fans that are rebelling against continual mediocrity on the field while owners seem to bumble their way towards insulting entire races of people while also doing all they can to mismanage the human aspects of the game.

They might have found that out they didn’t burn bridges with literally every Native American in the country, but, well, there we are.

That’s a good point. The walk from the Metro is a pain, and even if you decided to force yourself to do that, you’re schlepping a mile each direction with nothing around you.

Jeez, if 3 guys go through 5 cases between the time the PX closes to when it opens again... Or maybe that was just because stacking more beer would have been a fire hazard, blocking the exit?

The University of Chicago has an official pub on campus, tucked in the basement next to what used to be the newspaper offices, though now there’s a lot of student groups there. You have to be 21+ to get in (and they’re strict about carding), and with a student, alum, or faculty member, and it used to be beer/wine

I don’t doubt that if Tesla survives, there will be a $35k Model 3 at some point in the future, but by that point in time, the Model 3 will probably just be one EV out of a dozen or so at that price point.

I really feel like it’s a compromise with the Model 3.

Who are you and how did you get a childhood portrait of Virginia McCaskey?

What difference does it make where the car is made? Where the parts are snapped together into a car may matter emotionally, but every car in the world is part of a global supply chain, from engineering (which, presumably, Ford does in the US) to parts (some of which will be made/engineered here) to sales/service.

Well, actually, Ford’s not selling its cars here, and instead is only selling trucks, SUVs and one car (the Mustang).

Think of every Honda as being designed by someone with a really boring angel on one shoulder, telling them to make the most neutral cars imaginable, and a devil on the other shoulder, telling them to add weird flourishes and touches.

I actually have 2 Dysons at the moment; one stick model for cleaning hardwood and a larger plug-in that I use for cleaning carpet.

They’re $600 vacuums made of plastic, with minor differences between iterations, so the R&D has to be mostly paid off at this point, and they really can’t anywhere near that much to make.

Well, people do refinance all over the place, taking out a new 30-year when they’re already say, 15 years in.
