1991 Honda Accord DX manual with 200,000+ miles on it. Ran like a champ. The right mix of manual, power and electronic features. Cheap replacement parts that are accesible with normal sized human hands. I miss it every day.

Really wanted to put the first 5 generations of Fiesta on this list but 1. I see the UK got some fun versions, even a hemi! 2. I forgot my own belief that crap cars and youth make for fun. My mom’s old Tempo created the biggest laughs when me and the football team understeered and almost hit a pole, than laughed about

I wonder what it would take for American carmakers to do the same? The Ford ads where they talk about making a car for every American is laughable.

A lot of these automated systems have to right? One story I heard was someone didn’t know their brakes were bad because they thought the brake light would come like the oil or temperature gauge. We don’t even have to imagine how many people assume their lights are on at night cause we see it.

PREEEACH.

Good for you. The most fun to be had in a car is sometimes a car that wasn’t meant for fun at all. A 90's Mercury Topaz understeering with 4 friends is one of the highlights of my teen driving years. Go run with the bulls in Europe elitists, we’ll be giggling chasing a chicken around the yard.

This is the correct answer. Deliver in black, white, or grey and offer factory installed wraps, or not. Manufacturers spend a lot of money on paint, why not reduce a cost and better prepare cars for the inevitable customization.

How can we get local and federal governments to change education for the typical consumer of these vehicles?

7-Eleven definitely underrated photo back drop. Japanese 7-Elevens and convenience stores in general are the best. Add a rented R34 to the mix and you got a great night.

Still one year to go for an S15 Silvia. 20+ years ago I told myself I would save up for an S15 Silvia. One year left and the S15 fund is $0. I even kept my mouth shut all these years to avoid raising the value and lowering inventory. Unless I win the lottery this year I probably won’t get one of the first ones in

What about the R8 V8? What more about the AWD vs RWD drive versions? Development history? Am I asking too much during Thanksgiving week from a free car blog with recent massive turnover?

I’ll add Metal Gear Solid series for deeply informing me of the industrial military complex, war profiteering, exclusive history writing, AI, and general depressive outlook on geopolitics.

This. Luke, have you actually watched all the episodes to be able to say it’s mostly rubbish? Don’t get caught up in the internet consensus which is typically a minority of people voicing their extreme opinion. Don’t be fooled by the “Like button” “downvote” binary hyperbole social media has put forth. 19+ seasons

90's Hondas and shitty economy cars for the same reason, thrashing a not-fast car is fun. It’s one thing to drive a car meant to go fast but it’s another thing to jump on a shopping cart in a parking lot and do 4mph. You’ve never lived until you understeer a Mercury Sable going 35 into a turn with 4 of your friends

All for this answer. I remember as a kid almost breaking my neck while one rode past. I loved the anti-pop-up lights. It looked futuristic compared to the decade plus of sleek lines ruined by pop-ups; Nissan was able to pull it off.

Reading this for the first time; great take.

Mercedes.

Been thinking about renewing subscriptions to car magazines for stuff like this. We were spoiled but now the realization and burden of not paying for content and getting what I pay for is on me.

Looks good! Simple and tasteful adjustments. Glad they kept some curves in feathers and made them bolder. Too many logos have gone to thin hard geometric line work e.g. VW. Always curious to see what some early rounds of concepts/variations were.

So sad that no one really made good looking hybrids until recently. Even Honda made Civics and Accords fugly and all the Clarities are just weird. To the credit of the Prius, it’s ugliness made Tesla and other EV companies try harder to make a good looking EV so that the reaction wasn’t the same.
