You don’t need the ribbon to make a bookmark. In fact, I use the paper clip on the side of the page (instead of the top) so it points at the exact line where I stopped reading.

Thank you. I’m one of those people who eats up text, but pukes up video. : )

Also, you can use two paper-clips and a coffee-stirrer to fashion a crude but functional trident-ish ‘fork’. (Discovered this once when I went to eat my microwaved lunch meal and discovered my office was all out of plastic forks)

I fixed a break in the toilet change that controls the plunger. Just looped it through the now two chains and twisted the clip until the two chains were reunited. I first didn’t twist the clip to tighten which caused the toilet not to flush properly since the chain was too loose.

Moved out of rental house, left all keys but one on counter, one under the mat. Landlord lost one under mat(?), couldn’t get in house. I Googled picking locks, used two paper clips to pick the front door deadbolt.

so.. this is like a packing list when you visit your parents?

Yes to this. My first job out of college had an onboarding process that included explaining the different levels of knowledge.
1. You don’t know what you don’t know
2. You don’t know what you know
3. You know what you don’t know
4. You know what you know

These may be in the wrong order, but in the first one, people are

Honestly, to go along with this I would say learning how to say, “I don’t know” if you don’t know the answer to a question.

“I should have figured this out a long time ago but I didn’t ask for help when I should have, and now it’s too late, so I better stall while I try to do it myself and not let on that I’m clueless.”

How to dress for important-ish situations—like, different from your normal workday—without feeling or looking uncomfortable. This is wildly different in every industry, and for different people (age, race, gender, etc affect how people view you, which sucks). It takes time and experience to dial that in.

Yes, this too..It amazes me how so many people don’t have ANY....my close friends, family members, etc. I guess I have a rarity about me or something but it’s my biggest pet peeve when people don’t have it or exercise having it.

Or just basic critical thinking.

Add written communication to this! It’s mind-boggling how poorly some people write, even at advanced career levels. Even if you feel like you’re not a good writer, you can still learn to edit everything from email to your other written work product to ensure you’re writing in complete sentences, communicate your ideas

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how wrong it may be. ;)

Some folks who are no longer in their 20s still need this reminder.

I don’t know if common sense can be taught but it’s sure not a common trait anymore. Where did it go out the window? Seriously....

Does communication count as a “soft skill”? That’s vital in general, and something I’m trying to get through SnowPup’s thick teenaged skull. By their 20's, everyone should be able to write a basic document (topic, supporting evidence, conclusion), hold a one-on-one conversation with someone face to face, speak in
