No it doesn’t, I’ve been driving here for 30 years and I’ve driven on ice and I can tell you that even in the first ~30 minutes of rain after several months without a drop you have way more traction on a rain-slicked California freeway than you do with a road with snow on it let alone ice.

I just think most driver’s are negligent about checking their tire tread. Taking dry weather for granted, some people drive until you can see the steel belts through the wear on the treads. Not to mention the telltale result when you see ripped up tires in the middle of the road. I’ve ran over someone’s tire twice.…
